Wireless CarPlay & Android Auto for BMW 5 Series (F10)

For the F10, F11 Touring, F18 long-wheelbase and F07 Gran Turismo. Fits both CIC and NBT iDrive, with the widest choice of screen sizes in the Autoconnekt range.

BMW 5 Series F10 with a factory-style Linux screen upgrade running wireless CarPlay

A vehicle-specific retrofit kit for BMW 5 Series F10 / F11 / F07 / F18 (2010–2017) that adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto while keeping the factory iDrive and audio system fully working.

Early F10 cars run the CIC iDrive with a 7-inch display; facelift and later cars moved to NBT. Neither generation ever offered CarPlay or Android Auto. Autoconnekt builds a dedicated kit for each platform, connected behind the factory head unit through a plug-and-play T-harness with nothing cut or coded. Keep the original screen entirely, replace it with a 10.25-inch or 12.3-inch factory-fit Linux widescreen, or step up to a 15.6-inch widescreen Android unit on the NBT platform.

Key features

  • Wireless CarPlay & Android Auto
  • CIC and NBT platforms covered
  • iDrive controller & steering-wheel buttons retained
  • Original screen kept — or 10.25" / 12.3" Linux widescreen
  • 15.6" widescreen Android option (NBT)
  • No cutting, no coding — fully reversible
Step one

Identify your iDrive system

The F10 changed platform mid-life, and the two take different parts.

SystemProduction yearsFactory screenWhat it means for you
CIC2010 – 20127"Early F10. Grid-style iDrive menu, hard-disk navigation.
NBT2013 – 20177" / 10.25"Facelift and later cars. Tile-style menu, optional larger display.

The production change happened during 2012, so a 2012-built car can be either platform. If you are not sure, send us a photo of your iDrive menu through the contact page and we will confirm the platform before you order.

Installation

What fitting an F10 kit involves

Typical workshop time: 1.5 – 3 hours depending on the option chosen.

1

Remove the display trim

The monitor surround comes off with plastic tools. The factory screen is held by factory fixings — nothing is cut.

2

Connect the harness

The kit harness plugs between the head unit and the original wiring. Every connector is keyed to the car.

3

Fit the module or screen

A interface hides behind the dash; a replacement screen mounts on the original F10 brackets.

4

Test and refit

CarPlay, Android Auto, cameras, iDrive and steering-wheel controls are tested before the trim goes back.

Which F10 do you have?

CIC or NBT, sedan or Gran Turismo — send us the details and we will match the exact kit.

Ask Autoconnekt

Looking for the interface itself? See the dedicated product pages: CarPlay interface for BMW & MINI NBT and NBT EVO — the interface-kit option on this page is the same platform family.

Frequently asked questions — BMW 5 Series (F10)

Which iDrive system does my F10 have — CIC or NBT?

The F10 used CIC from 2010 to 2012 and NBT from 2013 onwards, but the change happened during 2012 so a 2012-built car can be either. The menu design is the quickest giveaway: CIC uses a grid layout, NBT uses larger tiles. A photo of your screen is enough for us to confirm.

Can I keep the factory screen and still get CarPlay?

Yes. The CarPlay interface adds wireless CarPlay and Android Auto behind the dash and outputs to the original display. Nothing visible changes — the car keeps its factory look while gaining full smartphone integration.

What screen sizes are available for the F10?

Dedicated 10.25-inch and 12.3-inch Linux screens, plus a 15.6-inch wide-screen Android unit for NBT cars. All are private-mould parts designed for the F10 dashboard, with no universal frames or cutting.

Will the parking sensors and reverse camera still work?

Yes. PDC distance display and the factory reverse camera are retained. Where the car has no camera, a camera input can be added with automatic switching when reverse is engaged.

Is the F07 Gran Turismo supported?

Yes. The F07 GT has its own dedicated parts for both CIC (2011–2012) and NBT (2013–2017) cars, including ultra-slim versions. Send us your model year and we will confirm the exact part.

Are the kits available for right-hand-drive cars?

Yes. The F10 range covers both LHD and RHD. A few specific vehicle builds need checking, so we confirm the correct unit for your market before dispatch.
